BLANKETS FOR FOSTER TEENS (ongoing)
WHEN: Feb-Mar 2024
WHERE: Fultondale, Alabama (Lily Cureton's Home)
WHAT: In partnership with My Very Own Blanket, we will be making and donating fleece tie blankets to The Prescott House Child Advocacy Center for foster teens. Bring 1.5 yards of fleece to tie. You are welcome to bring more! We will be tying blankets and sewing name patches onto the finished blankets. Completed blankets will be donated to Prescott House Child Advocacy Center on February 14, 2024.
Dinner will be served.

WHO: Heals, Inc
WHAT: During the month of October, we will be gathering the following items to be assembled into dental hygiene kits and donated to Heals, Inc to be passed out to the children:
Travel-sized non-whitening toothpaste
toothbrushes
wax floss
small plastic bags (like bags from the dentist)
HEALS, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Huntsville, Alabama dedicated to providing accessible, quality, school-based, primary health care for children through collaborative efforts with the Huntsville City/Madison County school systems and the medical community. By providing on-site medical, dental, optometry care, and social services at our participating schools, HEALS, Inc. makes an immediate difference in the lives of many children.
Mission: It is our mission to keep children healthy and optimize their opportunities for success in school and society. It is our mission to deliver accessible, quality, school-based, primary health care for children through collaborative efforts with the school system and the medical, dental, and optometry communities. By providing accessible school-based health care for eligible economically disadvantaged children, we are a real solution, right now to the health care crisis by providing them with a medical, dental, and optometry home.

WHEN: 1st Friday of the Month
WHERE: Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, 107 Walter Davis Drive, Birmingham, AL, USA
WHAT: Every month, we volunteer at the Community Foodbank of Central Alabama at the warehouse. When open slots are available, we also volunteer at the mobile pantry distribution centers across central Alabama.

From the Hope Pointe website: "A crisis can happen to any one of us at any time. Hope Pointe is here to help when you need it. our goal is to provide comprehensive behavioral crisis intervention. Behavioral crisis intervention can prevent hospitalization and stabilize people experiencing acute mental health or substance use concerns. Hope Pointe's crisis services include walk-in services, triage, psychiatric evaluation, consultation, assessment, and community referrals. We will welcome anyone who is seeking services and provide a warm hand-off to continued care."
