Welcome! I'm so glad you're here. If you've made it to this page, it means you're interested in what we do at Born a Queen Foundation and that warms my heart.
My name is Lily Cureton and I am the founder of Born a Queen Foundation, alongside my family. The basis of this organization is love. God is love. Love is serving others. That is what we are here to do.
From a very young age, my parents had my three older brothers and myself, out in our community, meeting people and serving them. Whether we were serving Thanksgiving dinner at the Salvation Army, organizing and handing out food at the food bank, traveling to do tornado or hurricane clean up, or just taking a home-cooked meal to a family in need, we were consecrating our time and resources to brighten others' day and give hope. Because of the example of my parents and other mentors and leaders, the Holy Ghost was able to prick my heart and instill in me a passion for serving my fellow man. I know that other young people can also have this conversion for service, as well. Imagine a world where every single person gave just a fraction of what they could to those in need: resources, time, skills, etc. How much brighter would the world be? How much would the need and suffering be reduced? How could that change our communities, our country, our world?
This year, we are focused on the Gather for Good Project. It is one of four initiatives that Born a Queen Foundation uses to support college and high school aged youth. This year we have hosted 3 events where young women from Bessemer, Northport, Tuscaloosa and Gardendale areas of Alabama were able to come together to make 35 blankets that were donated to the Prescott House in Birmingham, Alabama. We partnered with myveryownblanet.org who provided the special tags that each youth used to leave a personalized message for the recipient. The tags were then sewed on to each blanket before donation. This is just a small example of the impact that small acts of service can have on our community for the donor and the recipient.
